A New Addition to the Coniston Off-Road Family

There have been a few changes to the Coniston Off-Road fleet in the last few months – the brand new Shogun Sport has gone down a storm… but more recently two shiny new John Deere Gators have joined the fleet.

As an independent centre, Coniston Off-Road have the opportunity to try all kinds of new vehicles from different manufacturers. And so, we’ve said goodbye to our amazing Kubota RTVs and we now have some new toys for you to try.

There are plenty other options out there, with manufacturers included Polaris, Can-Am and Kawasaki, but the John Deere Gator has been chosen as the ATV of choice at Coniston Off-Road.

So, why the Gator?

John Deere’s Gator uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT), whereas our previous ATV, the Kubota RTV, used a hydrostatic transmission. In non-technical jargon, this basically means that the Gator needs a slightly different approach to driving. For example, maintaining a touch of throttle on the big descents means that the transmission remains engaged and stops the vehicle from running away on you!

This might all sound a bit technical, but don’t worry! Our amazing team down at Coniston Off-Road will be on hand to talk you through it all.

The new Gators will be used for our ever-popular Junior Off-Road Driving Experience, and our Blindfold Driving Challenge, a big hit with small corporate groups.

You can also have a go with any ‘adult’ driving experience too, so if you want to come and try it out for yourself book a Coniston Off-Road experience today.
