Christmas Fitness Tips
Yes, we know we might be a little early when the Halloween costumes have only just been set aside. But Christmas is nearly upon us and we want to help you stay active with some Christmas Fitness Tips so that you feel your best during the party season!
With tins of chocolates on every work surface, the smell of freshly baked mince pies filling the kitchen and bottles of Prosecco stuffed into the fridge, Christmas is packed full of temptations. Our blog is here to give you some top tips on how to keep fit and healthy this Christmas.
We know how easy it is to promise ourselves that we’ll be “really good” this year; that we’ll only have one glass of mulled wine and that we’ll definitely go to the gym while it’s open between Christmas and New Year… But in reality, we all have extremely busy social schedules over the festive period and that means that we’re more likely to be lifting a mince pie than kettlebells!
So, to help you find the balance between maintaining a healthy fitness regime and enjoying the festive period, the team at The Coniston Spa have put together some more-than-manageable top tips.
1. What’s on your plate…
We all still want to be able to let our hair down at Christmas but if your goal is to stay fit and healthy then a few small changes will go a long way. The “well it’s Christmas” excuse just won’t cut it. Overeating can be a slippery slope so make sure you remain mindful of what you are putting on your plate – this doesn’t mean denying yourself certain things but ensure your portion sizes are normal and that the proportion of healthy food is higher than unhealthy food… that means more broccoli and less cauliflower cheese on your Christmas dinner!
2. Everything in moderation…
Don’t beat yourself up over the things that you eat and drink at a Christmas party or on Boxing Day! Just ensure that you try and get plenty of healthy eating in between. When you head out to do the mammoth Christmas shop, make sure you add some healthy snacks and plenty of green vegetables to the shopping list. Planning in advance is key so you so you don’t just end up eating leftovers as you don’t have anything else in the fridge. On quieter days, ensure you put lots of healthy food into your body to make up for the treats. A few sherry’s go hand in hand with the Christmas festivities, so make sure you drink plenty of water every day to keep your body hydrated and flush out all of those toxins.
3. Plan your workouts…
It may be that you can’t get to the gym over Christmas but that doesn’t mean you’ll morph into a couch potato. Set aside some time every other day to do some kind of exercise – this could be as simple as going for a walk on a crisp, cold morning. Adapting your workout schedule over Christmas is vital; don’t just throw the towel in and put everything on hold until January, see how you can change your workouts to make sure you get the most out of your limited free time. f you can find the time to get to the gym, that’s great! But if not, simple home workouts can be easily adopted instead. We believe that it’s important to feel your best in the lead up to Christmas and now’s the time to get started! Our Personal Training sessions are available to both Spa members and non-members on Monday’s between 8am – 6pm.
We have an introductory offer available for new Spa members or non-members who haven’t had personal training sessions with us before: 3 sessions for £60.
Single sessions are priced at £30 each or receive a discount for block bookings – 5 sessions, £125 or 10 sessions £225. Non-members also receive complimentary access to the Spa on the day of their training session to wind down after a hard work out. Our Personal Trainer will help you to feel fitter and stronger in time for the festivities, while also giving you some great advice on how you can keep it up over the Christmas break.
