Christmas at the Cottages
What better time to book a holiday cottage break than the most wonderful time of the year? We make sure that Christmas at our holiday cottages really feels like home-from-home for all those that join us – and that means that the Christmas decorations will be up, with a beautifully decorated tree in each cottage.
Whether you’re coming to stay in the weeks leading up to the big day or staying over Christmas and New Year, there is plenty to do to make your festive break truly special.
All of our cottages are muddy boot proof and pet friendly (except Fogga) and there’s nothing better than getting out into the great outdoors on a cold and frosty morning. Take a short walk around the estate to see the beautiful lake or get togged up and spend the day walking in the stunning Yorkshire Dales countryside. Wherever you go, be sure to end up in the Huntsman’s Lodge restaurant back at the hotel to warm up by the crackling fire with a light snack or a hearty meal.
Go and see Santa
Unfortunately, our Santa’s Woodland Walk is already fully booked this year but there are plenty of places nearby where you can go to meet the big man himself! Why not try Thornton Hall Farm Park in Thornton-in-Craven, Shackleton Home & Garden in Chatburn or Keelham Farm Shop in Skipton.
Make some time for you
Christmas can be a little tiring, to say the least, so a breakaway at one of our holiday cottages wouldn’t be complete without some time spent relaxing at The Coniston Spa. Access to the Spa is included with your holiday cottage stay but why not treat yourself with our fantastic range of treatments. If Christmas shopping has left you with some achy muscles, book our Aromatherapy Associates Intensive Muscle Release to instantly release that pain and tension. Get your skin looking glowing for the festive season with our 30 minute triple exfoliant peel treatment – the Natura Bisse Instant Renewal Facial. And Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a festive manicure – add a bit of sparkle to your gel manicure with our glitters.
Visit some local attractions
Here at The Coniston Hotel, we’re fortunate enough to be surrounded by some fantastic local attractions. If you’re coming with the family then there’s plenty to do for the little ones – we’d suggest taking a trip to Billy Bob’s Parlour in Halton East, an amazing American style diner with a Play Barn. If you’re looking for something a bit different, then why not head to Courtyard Dairy in Settle where you can learn all about the history of cheese making in Britain in their museum, sample some cheeses and take plenty home with you to enjoy back at the cottage. There are so many things to do that we couldn’t possibly list them all, so you can get a bit more inspirations from the Welcome to Yorkshire website.
Festive food & drink
It just wouldn’t be Christmas without some overindulging! With two restaurants to choose from at the hotel, there’s something for everyone. Our festive menu will be running in Huntsman’s Lodge throughout December where you can enjoy a 2 or 3 course lunch or dinner, starting from £19.95 per person. Our second restaurant, Macleod’s, was recently awarded 2 AA Rosettes and is a must if you’re looking to spoil yourselves. Finally, you can go all out with our in-house private dining experience! Enjoy a fine dining experience from the comfort of your home-from-home with an indulgent meal prepared for you in your holiday cottage by one of our Chefs and served by your own personal waiter. If we’ve inspired you to take a pre-Christmas break we have some last minute mid-week availability this December.
Join us on Monday 17 December for a 3 night stay and chose from The Thack or Fogga for just £599 and Lowlands for just £499. Plus, you can extend your break and stay for another night for FREE.
