Things to do this February Half-Term

If you’re coming to stay with us this February half-term, we’ve put together the ultimate guide of things to do in the local area for all the family. We have some fantastic activities available on the Coniston estate but we’re extremely lucky to be located close by to some great local attractions.

Just a short drive to Thorton-in-Craven, Thornton Hall Country Park will be full of all the usual farm fun this half-term. They will also have additional daily activities running throughout the holidays that will be included in your admission:

Mondays – Pony Club, Tuesdays – Circus Workshops, Wednesdays – Tractor Madness, Thursdays – The Bee Centre and Fridays – Critters 2 You.

If animals are your thing, we will be running our Family Falconry experience at The Coniston Falconry Centre over February half-term. Enjoy a 1 hour falconry experience for 2 adults and 2 children for only £49. You will be able to get up close and personal with owls, hawks and much more. Plus, if the parents (2 adults) dine on 2 courses in Huntsman’s Lodge before or after your experience, children under 12 dine for free from our standard children’s menu.

If the sun is shining over half-term then you can’t miss out on a trip to Billy Bob’s, near Bolton Abbey. The incredible 50’s style American diner serves delicious treats from their famous milkshakes to brilliant burgers. Let the kids make the most of the sunshine in their play adventure areas, including play barns and outdoor play areas.

Explore the Dales on horseback at the Kilnsey Trekking and Riding Centre. pony treks and horse rides for people of all ages and ability, the riding centre is open seven days a week and will be welcoming family groups of half-term. Perfectly located in the middle of the Kilnsey Park Estate, there are miles of low-lying farmland, moorland, country lanes, green lanes and bridle ways to discover on horseback.

Let the kids get behind the wheel at the Coniston Off-Road Centre with our Junior Drive experience for just £59. Taking the wheel of one of our John Deere Gators, and under the guidance of one of our qualified off-road driving instructors, young drivers will experience true off-roading on our purpose-built track.

Start your half-term adventure with a morning at Embasy & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. On Sunday 24 February they will be running their ever-popular Breakfast Train. On the 10.30 departure from Embsay enjoy a cooked breakfast for all the family on the train – a hearty start to the day! Be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
