Here at The Coniston, we are ideally located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, just a short drive from Skipton and Settle. The Yorkshire Dales and surrounding areas boast stunning scenery, exciting local attractions and some very popular events. 

To help you plan your summer break, we’ve put together a list of some of the best events in the local area that are not to missed!

 Food & Drink Festivals

Ilkley Food & Drink Festival

29 – 30 June 2019

East Holmes Field, Ilkley, LS29 0BZ

Ilkley Food & Drink Festival launch their first ever event this summer. This family friendly event will celebrate international influence and local talent, through food, drink, live music and arts. Our Head Chef of Macleod’s, Andy Collop, will be doing a live chef-demo on Saturday 29 June.

Yorkshire Food & Drink Festival

20 – 21 July 2019

Funkirk Farm, Carleton, BD23 3AB

Back for its 4th year, the Yorkshire Food & Drink Festival is one of the biggest food festivals in Yorkshire. This year, there will be live celebrity demos from the Hairy Bikers, Marry Berry, Brian Turner and Lisa Faulkner. Plus, our Head Chef of Macleod’s, Andy Collop, will be doing a live demonstration on the Yorkshire AA Rosette stage. Make sure you visit our stand and enjoy some delicious Yorkshire tapas with a glass of wine!

Art in the Pen

Art in the Pen is a well-established and highly regarded art and craft fair that runs each year in Thirsk and Skipton Auction Marts. Now in its 14th year, the event has developed into what many now consider to be the North’s leading art event.

Did you know that the Anglo Saxon name for Skipton is “Sceap Tun” which directly translates to Sheep Town? The famous Sheep Day returns to Skipton High Street again this year to celebrate Skipton’s heritage with this fun-packed free event.

Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival

Over the last 25 years, the Scarecrow Festival has gone from strength to strength and has played a vital role in community fundraising for generations. Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival now welcomes thousands of visitors from far and wide who stroll the village spotting the creative scarecrows along the way.

Settle Flowerpot Festival

July – August 2019

Settle, BD24 9EX

Throughout July and August Settle is decorated with flowerpot creations of every shape, size and design. All the community join in the fun; schools, churches, businesses, individuals, clubs, and visitor attractions. The Festival is FREE and accessible at all times throughout July and August. It is great fun for children, families and adults and a great way of spending a day.
