How long have you been in the hospitality industry?
I have been in the hospitality industry for 24 years, across a broad range of venues. Starting out with evening bar and waitressing work at 16 years old, to keep the days free for my horse riding and job at the local riding school. My career developed, fuelled by a love for good wine which spurred me on to embark on a degree in wine and delve into fine dining. I have a passion for dining out and exceptional service, and am always looking for new foodie experiences.
What is your favourite dish on The View Restaurant menu?
I very much enjoy the Venison Rump, served medium rare, it really showcases our local ethos and is absolutely gorgeous!
What do you enjoy cooking at home?
I have recently started cooking Chinese cuisine and have mastered a Hot & Sweet Sticky Pork Belly to replace those takeaway urges!
What is your favourite thing on the Yorkshire Dales?
Being from Norwich originally, which is completely flat, I love the Yorkshire Dales for its dramatic landscapes. All those beautiful rolling green hills and dry stone walls really are picture perfect.
What do you do in your spare time?
My husband and I moved here from Norfolk four years ago and enjoy an active lifestyle with our own horses, cats, bunnies, and a small flock of ex-battery hens. I’m also attempting to grow my own vegetables this year too!
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
Bringing my experience and passion to the Food & Beverage team, training with the younger team members, and working alongside our fantastic brigade of chefs to curate an incredible dining offering.
